Bank robbed in Tiền Giang Province

Colonel Nguyễn Văn Tảo, deputy director of Tiền Giang’s Police Department confirmed to online newspaper vietnamplus.vn that a bank robbery occurred on Thursday afternoon in Châu Thành District.

TIỀN GIANG — Colonel Nguyễn Văn Tảo, deputy director of Tiền Giang’s Police Department, confirmed to online newspaper vietnamplus.vn that a bank robbery occurred on Thursday afternoon in Châu Thành District.

At 16:30, an unidentified man on a motorcycle stopped in front of a VietinBank branch (Việt Nam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade) in Tân Phong Hamlet, Tân Lý Tây Commune.

The man, brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, demanded members of staff place cash in a bag before escaping on the motorcycle.

Police officers rushed to the scene and, in coordination with colleagues from Châu Thành District, checked the bank security cameras as well as cameras from neighbouring houses.

An investigation is underway. — VNS
