ĐỒNG NAI — The Đồng Nai Province People’s Committee has approved a sum of VNĐ305 billion (US$13.3 million) for providing vocational training and jobs and resettling people displaced by the construction of Long Thành International Airport.
The money comes from the fund for land acquisition, compensation and resettlement support created specifically for the airport project and approved by the National Assembly last year.
The construction has affected 4,864 households with 15,557 people in the six communes of Bình Sơn, Suối Trầu, Cẩm Đường, Bàu Cạn, Long An, and Long Phước in Long Thành District.
Since nearly 9,700 are of working age, the province recognises the importance of having preferential education, vocational training and social welfare policies when acquiring land for the project to enable the affected people to settle their lives.
Working-age people will be provided with tuition fees for one training course in a vocational training school or college if they desire. People already doing such courses will be supported until they graduate.
The province will also find the working-age people jobs at local companies and industrial parks or airport construction sites or abroad. — VNS
