HCM CITY — More than 60 young overseas Vietnamese from 10 countries and territories are taking part in the annual Summer Camp that opened Monday in HCM City.

The camp, with the theme “Proud of homeland sea and islands” this year, is organised by the HCM City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Phùng Công Dũng, chairman of the committee, said the camp offered a great chance for the young attendees to share their feelings and connect with other Vietnamese from all over the world.

Participants will visit popular tourist destinations in the city and the central province of Khánh Hòa during the four-day camp.

They will take part in a wide range of activities, visiting the Gò Vấp District Orphanage and attending a cooking class at the Saigontourist Hospitality College in the city and a campfire night with the navy in Khánh Hòa Province.

Lueng Ylang, a Vietnamese from Cambodia, said this was his third camp and he had always found it a meaningful and interesting event for overseas Vietnamese.

In the previous camps he had taken part in various voluntary activities and cultural exchanges and made a lot of new friends, he said. — VNS
