HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc agreed to a plan to hire foreign consultants or a joint-team, including domestic and foreign consultants, to verify the pre-feasibility study of the HCM City’s urban metro-line No 5 project.
The Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Planning and Investment and the Chairman of the State Appraisal Council to decide on the selection of verification consultants, according to regulations. At the same time, the ministries’ comments will be taken into consideration to maximise efficiency and savings in the work of hiring consultants.
Metro line No 5 is one of eight urban metro-line routes in HCM City, which is about 26 km long, starting at the Cần Giuộc bus station and ending at Sài Gòn Bridge.
With a total investment of 1.5 trillion Euros (US$1.8 trillion) and with the longest implementation period in Việt Nam (preparation process is from 2009 to 2019), the construction will be started from 2020 to 2025, with a test-run time predicted from 2025 to 2027.
In Phase 1 of the project, the route will be 8.9km from Bảy Hiền cross-roads to Sài Gòn Bridge.
According to the design, metro line No 5 will connect with metro line No 2 at Bảy Hiền Station (Tân Bình District); with metro line No 4 at Phú Nhuận cross-roads (Phú Nhuận District) and Tân Sơn Nhất Airport (Tân Bình District); with metro line No 3b at Hàng Xanh Station (Bình Thạnh District) and to metro line No 1 at Sài Gòn Bridge terminal (Bình Thạnh District). — VNS
