HÀ NỘI — A website dedicated to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum will be launched with the address https://www.vietnamplus.vn/apec2017 in three languages – Vietnamese, English and French.

The purpose is to deliver to readers a comprehensive view of the forum, which is currently underway in Việt Nam.

APEC comprises 21 member economies and 39 per cent of the global population, accounting for 49 per cent of worldwide trade and 57 per cent of gross world product.

The event has attracted worldwide attention. Leaders of the 21 member economies together with leaders of the three guest economies will convene in the central coastal city of Đà Nẵng to discuss and introduce important decisions and policies that have wide-ranging implications on world politics and the trade scenario.

Some 20 years after joining the APEC forum in 1998, Việt Nam has in 2017 taken up the role of the forum’s chair to host year-long activities for the second time, having previously hosted the event more than a decade ago in 2006.

In this ever-changing environment, the Asia-Pacific is not an exception and the region is facing unprecedented challenges along with opportunities. By hosting the event for the second time, the country can showcase is strategic vision and highlight its desire to contribute to deeper collaboration within APEC, as well as ensure the region is the driver of global growth and connectivity.

The website is a result of co-operation between the online newspaper VietnamPlus, the national English daily Việt Nam News, the French-language newspaper Le Courrier du Vietnam and Doanh Nhân (Businesspeople) magazine. — VNS
