ĐỒNG THÁP — The Cao Lãnh City People’s Committee in Đồng Tháp Province has approved a plan to create a pedestrian zone for local residents and tourists.

The pedestrian zone will be located on Đặng Văn Bình, Ngô Thì Nhậm and Võ Trường Toản streets in Ward 1, which surrounds Văn Miếu Park.

There will be around 180 stores selling souvenirs, food and traditional goods along the pavements. The zone, which will be a total of 990 metres long, will be open from 6-10pm daily.

A private contractor will pay for the infrastructure and in return will be permitted to operate the 180 stores.

The pedestrian zone is expected to be completed for the Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday next year. — VNS
