HÀ NỘI — The relocation of 130 trees planted on Kim Mã Street’s pavement in Hà Nội will be completed within 45 days, according to the Management Board of the Hà Nội Urban Railway project.
The trees are being moved or cut down to make way for the construction of tunnels, station No.3 and the ventilation network of Nhổn-Hà Nội Railway Station section of the pilot urban railway project.
Ninety-five trees which are in healthy condition would be relocated to a plants nursery on Võ Nguyên Giáp Street.
The other 35 trees that are ill and show signs of decay would be felled.
The trees are being cut down or relocated to comply with the city’s regulations on safety and environment hygiene.
The Hà Nội Department of Construction and the Management Board of Hà Nội Urban Railway would monitor the relocation of trees and the nursery closely.
After being relocated to the nursery for maintenance, these trees will later be brought back and replanted on Hà Nội’s streets.
Last year, the Management Board moved 103 trees around Thủ Lệ Lake in Cầu Giấy District to pave the way for a railway project.
One year after the trees were replanted at a nursery garden in Văn Giang of Hưng Yên Province, 91 of those trees are in healthy condition. — VNS
