HÒA BÌNH – The People’s Court of Hòa Bình Province on Thursday sentenced one man to death and three others to life imprisonment for drug trafficking and transporting 30 bricks of heroin.

Ngô Hữu Tình, 25, a resident of Ea Kar District in the Central Highlands province of Đắk Lắk, was handed the death sentence, while Phạm Xuân Năng, 38, from Tứ Kỳ District in the northern province of Hải Dương, received a life sentence for the same charge.

Two of their accomplices, Phạm Văn Phúc, 22, and Vũ Văn Năm, 41, both from Ea Kar District, were also given life sentences for transporting the drugs.

The court also handed out sentences to two others. Vũ Đình Hiếu, 22, will serve 15 years in prison, while Nguyễn Văn Giang, 36, will be in prison for six years for drug trafficking.

As per the indictment, Phúc and Năm were arrested while transporting 30 bricks of heroin on motorbikes from the northern province of Hòa Bình to Hà Nội on July 1, 2016.

During interrogations, the duo confessed that they were transporting the heroin for Tình, who was seized soon after.

Following the instructions of Đào Văn Soái, Tình and Năng had hired Hiếu to transport the heroin. Hiếu had roped in Phúc, Năm and Giang. Tình would give them VNĐ50 million for each successful trip.
