AN GIANG – A new crack in a road alongside the Ông Chưởng River in An Giang Province prompted local authorities to urgently evacuate four households yesterday.

The two-metre wide crack, running about 200 metres long from the riverside to the road connecting Kiến Thành and Kiến An Communes in Chợ Mới District, triggered fears of landslides.

Chợ Mới authorities decided to ban trucks from passing the area.

“This is the only road linking two communes of more than 18,000 residents, so it will be extremely difficult for the residents should landslides occur,” Chợ Mới People’s Committee Chairman Trương Trung Lập told vnexpress online. – VNS
