HÀ NỘI — A cold spell is forecast to hit the northern region from Friday early morning with the lowest temperature dropping to 10 degree Celsius in the high mountainous areas, according to the National Hydrometeorological Forecast Centre.

Average temperature in the lowland areas is predicted to hover around 16-18 degree Celsius, while the temperature in the mountainous areas will drop to 13-16 degree Celsius.

The cold spell is predicted to bring showers to the northern provinces and medium to heavy rainfall to the northern central coastal localities. The centre also warned of a possible whirlwind and hailstorms in some areas.

The cold spell will also make the sea rough and create high waves of 2-3m in the Tonkin Gulf and the northern part of the East Sea, according to the centre. —  VNS
