HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese customs officials at the Hà Nội-based Nội Bài International Airport have seized 155 iPhones allegedly smuggled from abroad into the country.
The batch of iPhones, worth some VNĐ3 billion (US$133,000) was found on Wednesday in three checked-in bags at the airport.
Owner of the batch, Vũ Thị Phượng, failed to present legal documents proving the origin of the iPhones. Mobile phones are among products that must get permission from the Ministry of Information and Communications to be imported into the country.
Among the phones seized were 80 iPhone 7 Plus and 50 iPhone 7s, all in red - Apple’s new Special Edition.
The case is under investigation. — VNS
