HCM CITY – The Transport Engineering Design Incorporated (TEDI) has proposed a transport connection project between HCM City and seven other provinces and cities.
The seven provinces and cities include Bình Dương, Bình Phước, Tiền Giang, Long An, Tây Ninh, Đồng Nai and Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu.
The TEDI said that HCM City was the focus of the southern major economic zone, so it should be connected to different provinces and cities to ensure convenient transport.
TEDI has set out a system of nine main urban roads and five flyovers which were necessary for the city’s transport development.
TEDI proposed connecting the city’s main roads with provinces and cities, such as connecting Ringroad 2 in Thủ Đức District with Ringroad 3 in the southern province of Tiền Giang’s Gò Công District. The connecting road will span the Đồng Nai River and join Highway 20. The connection will aim at connecting the HCM City-Long Thành-Dầu Giây Highway with Highway 1 in the southern province of Đồng Nai.
Also under the proposal, the HCM City-Mộc Bài Highway will be adjusted in the direction of HCM City to Tây Ninh southern province and will extend to the Xa Mát Border Gate in Tây Ninh Province.
With regards to the waterway system, TEDI proposed to set up a connection between the Vàm Cỏ River to the Cái Mép-Thị Vải Port in Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province and from the Đồng Nai River to the Thị Vải River.
More areas will be set up to collect goods and transport to big ports.
With the railway system, TEDI proposed to supplement the connection between the Bình Triệu Station with the Sài Gòn-Cần Thơ route.
Contributing ideas to the project, the Đồng Nai Department of Transport said that a connection should be set up from Highway 51 to the Đồng Nai River.
The Bình Dương Department of Transport said that the 24.5-kilometre Ringroad 3 passing the province should be built.
Leaders of the HCM City Department of Transport said that the department would collaborate with departments of transport in different provinces and cities to build connection roads. – VNS
