HÀ NỘI – The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee yesterday approved a draft resolution that stipulates the procedures for some of the supervision activities of the NA, the NA Standing Committee and delegations of NA deputies.

The resolution provides regulations on order and procedures to build, implement and report implementation results of the supervision programme of the NA and the NA Standing Committee; organising questions and answers sessions and supervising the Q&A sessions during meetings of the NA and the NA Standing Committee; organising supervision activities of NA delegations and NA deputies; and reviewing the implementation of recommendations after supervision.

The aim of supervision is to find strengths and weaknesses and recommend measures to overcome problems.

This creates a legal foundation to monitor the progress of Government offices and those responsible for taking corrective measures.

NA Vice Chairman Phùng Quốc Hiển proposed better co-ordination in supervision activities. Some localities still did not carry out supervision activities seriously, he said.

Regarding supervision of the NA Standing Committee on the handling of complaints and recommedations of voters, some participants said the law on the supervision of the NA and People’s Councils still lacked clear regulations. They proposed the compiling board study and add specific regulations to create a legal basis for the NA Standing Committtee to better supervise the handling of complaints and the recommendations of voters.

Later the same day, the NA Standing Committee approved a resolution specifying regulations on the co-ordination in military court management between the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court and the Defense Minister. - VNS
