THỪA THIÊN-HUẾ — Police in the central Thừa Thiên-Huế Province are hunting for an armed bank robber who fled Huế City with an undisclosed amount of money after looting a bank on Tuesday.
Colonel Lê Quốc Hùng, director of the provincial Police Department, said the robbery took place around 5pm. A man entered a branch of Bank for Investment and Development of Việt Nam (BIDV) on Mai Thúc Loan Street, pulled out a gun and threatened the cashier, only known as Tâm, ordering her to hand over the money. He then made his escape on a motorbike.
Initial investigations reveal that the accused has fled with several hundreds of millions of đồng. Hùng said it was a fake gun and that no one was injured in the incident.
The BIDV said it would co-operate with the police to help track down the suspect. — VNS
