THÁI NGUYÊN — Unexploded bombs were detected in residential areas in the northern province of Thái Nguyên, the provincial military command has reported.

On Tuesday, a resident of Phú Bình District’s Nga My Commune informed the military he had found an iron cylinder block while land was being cleared to build a house.

After inspection, the military determined this was an unexploded 500kg bomb left behind from the war in Việt Nam.

On the same day, a household in Đại Từ District’s Minh Tiến Commune also found two bombs.

The bombs were 2m long and weighed 500kg.

The military said the bombs that were found deep in the ground were rusted and dangerous for local residents.

The bombs are now under strict protection until the military decides how to remove them.
