HCM CITY — HCM City wants to co-operate with Microsoft on e-government to improve the city’s management, the secretary of HCM City’s Party Committee, Đinh La Thăng, said at a meeting held on Thursday in the city.
Thăng met with Mark Day, general manager of Microsoft, agencies and industries, and worldwide public sector.
Thăng praised Microsoft’s long-time presence in the country, and said he welcomed further co-operation.
“HCM City is working to become a financial, economic and cultural centre in the region and aiming to be a civilised and modern society,” said Thăng.
“To meet its target, the city has developed many breakthrough programmes with specific solutions in key areas such as traffic, the environment and urban planning,” he said.
“The city and Microsoft would work more closely in technology application, particularly IT application, to develop the city as a smart city.”
Thăng added that along with the development of e-government, the city hopes to work with Microsoft in such sectors such as consultancy and applying solutions to e-health care, smart transportation, food hygiene and safety, crime prevention and flood prevention.
Day said that Microsoft was willing to co-operate with the city under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model . VNS
