HÀ NỘI — Provincial and municipal market management divisions will strengthen inspection of toys with images and content related to Việt Nam's territorial sovereignty.

The effort follows the Official Dispatch No. 44/TTTN-NV issued on Wednesday by Nguyễn Thanh Bình, Deputy Director of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The official dispatch stated that recently, mass media has reported that a number of children's toy products are available on the market, such as Baby Three, which have images similar to the ‘cow tongue line’, also called China's nine-dash line, which constitutes a serious violation of Việt Nam's territory and sovereignty in the East Sea (internationally known as the South China Sea).

The goods are sold in shops and on e-commerce platforms including Shopee, Tiktokshop and Facebook.

To control the situation, the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development asked localities to increase coordination with e-commerce platforms and fully grasp the situation.

They must proactively deploy professional measures to organise inspections and strictly handle violations (if any) caused by organisations and individuals according to the laws. — VNS
