ĐÀ NẴNG — Đà Nẵng City Police have prosecuted and detained three individuals following the death of a delivery driver on January 17, after a dispute over an unpaid online order.
According to police, Trần Thành, 31, rode his motorbike to the home of Trần Thanh Thảo, 26, in Giáng Nam 2 Village, Hòa Phước Commune, Hòa Vang District, while drunk, to resolve a payment dispute.
Thành’s loud behaviour led Thảo’s family to ask him to leave, but he refused.
When Thảo returned home with two friends, Trần Văn Minh Toàn and Nguyễn Thanh Tùng, an argument escalated into an assault.
Toàn, Tùng and Thảo’s brother, Trần Hoàng Thiên, attacked Thành, with Thiên using a helmet to strike him.
Thành later went home but was found struggling to breathe and died early the next morning.
The conflict arose from Thảo’s unpaid VNĐ375,000 (US$15) order.
Thành’s delivery company fined him VNĐ500,000 after Thảo gave him a negative rating.
Frustrated, Thành confronted her, leading to the fatal incident.
