Hà Nội-Lào Cai passenger trains resume operations

HÀ NỘI — The Hà Nội-Lào Cai passenger trains resumed yesterday after a period of suspension due to the storms, Hà Nội Railway Transport JSC has announced.

The train route for SP3/SP4 was heavily affected by landslides and flash floods triggered by Typhoon Yagi and has been reopened for cargo trains since September 15.

The train operation company noted that the trains into the northern mountainous province will be run at a slower speeds, due to safety reasons, therefore departure times will be moved to earlier than usual.

The SP3 train runs from Hà Nội Train Station at 10pm and reaches Lào Cai Train Station at 5.55am, while the returning train SP4 will depart from Lào Cai at 9.30pm and reaches the capital city at 5.25am.

Passengers will be notified of any schedule changes through their registered phone numbers.

Ticket fare per trip ranges from VNĐ280,000-420,000 (US$11.4 -17) depending on the travel classes, dates and point of departure.

The train operator is also offering coach tickets at VNĐ55,000 ($2.2) per trip from Lào Cai Train Station to locations within 2km from Sapa’s Stone Church and vice versa.

Hà Nội Railway Transport JSC reported that it had received several refund requests after the typhoon, but the number was not significant.
