HCM CITY — SUN EDU International Education Joint Stock Company and Thủ Dầu Một University in Bình Dương Province on Monday (January 8) began the first intensive training of trainers (ToT) programme in integrated circuit design.

The two have a memorandum of understanding for a strategic collaboration to develop high-quality human resources for the electronics and semiconductors industries.

The two-month ToT training programme is directly carried out by experts from Sun Edu and IC technology corporations.

The trainees -- all lecturers themselves -- get guidance and practical support from experienced experts and access to the entire library and teaching materials of large corporations such as Synopsys and Cadence.

Upon completion of the programme, they can develop a practical IC design curriculum for their future teaching.

Nguyễn Quốc Cường, rector of Thủ Dầu Một University, said learners could access and use IC design software, and the teaching content focuses on practical knowledge.

It would be really useful to retrain the students, ensuring that after completing the training and passing the quality test, they could start working immediately for IC design companies, he said.

“This is also what large IC companies and corporations in the world want when looking for candidates.”

Nguyễn Văn Lợi, secretary of the Binh Duong  Party Committee, said the province has instructed local universities to have exchanges with prestigious institutions at home and abroad to promote training and developing high-quality human resources for fabricating electronic circuits and semiconductors.

“[They] are expected to continue training and developing the province's human resources, meeting the requirements of high-quality human resources in these fields.”

It would also help develop the semiconductor eco-system and attract high-tech investments to the province, he added.

Thủ Dầu Một University will soon co-ordinate with SUN EDU, other universities and training units in the province to start more IC design training classes. — VNS
