PHÚ QUỐC — Passenger transport to and from Phú Quốc Island has resumed Tuesday morning after a three-day delay due to bad weather, according to a representative of Kiên Giang Provincial Maritime Port Authority.
More than 10,000 tourists were stranded on the island off the coast of southern Kiên Giang Province in the past three days.
The weather has improved, with forecasts for light rain in the late afternoon and evening.
Children on Phú Quốc Island also enter the new school year on Tuesday morning.
Trần Văn Lộc, a Phú Quốc resident who was on a business trip to Rạch Giá City had planned to return to the island Monday afternoon to attend his daughter’s first day of school.
Lộc told Thanh Niên (Youth) newspaper: “My wife and I wanted to take a photo of my daughter at the new school, but could not due to bad weather.
“This morning when I heard that the ships are resuming, I took the earliest ferry to be on time for the new school year ceremony and hopefully take a photo with her.” — VNS
