HCM CITY — HCM City plans to build seven new logistics centres by 2025.

The municipal People's Committee’s Office on Tuesday (July 4) announced that the city will deploy construction of at least seven logistics centres from now until 2025.

They include a six-hectare logistics centre of the Sài Gòn Hi-Tech Park in Thủ Đức city in the process of identifying a developer, and six others in Cát Lái, Long Bình, Linh Trung, Củ Chi, Hiệp Phước and Tân Phước in zoning process.

The city is also calling for investment for four additional logistics centre projects.

To develop its logistics system, the city plans to conduct a thorough review of warehouse facilities to invest in improvements and development of a comprehensive transportation system.

This will enhance inter-regional connection between the city and neighbouring localities, and connection among modes of transport, including roads, waterways, airways, railways, and logistics services; and implement them synchronously with the city’s transport infrastructure development plan in the period of 2020-30.

The city will develop centralised data storage to digitise transportation activities, an information technology platform to enable the shared utilisation of logistics-related data by both State agencies and businesses.

It will also create a digital logistics map to establish an official database for statistical analysis, retrieval, planning, search, and optimisation of the logistics network in the city and neighbouring localities.

The city has conducted research on establishing a centre to provide logistics technology solutions, aiming to facilitate the connection between logistics businesses and providers of modern logistics technology solutions.

It will develop and implement a comprehensive human resource training and development plan in the logistics industry for small and medium-sized enterprises.

It will regularly organise networking conferences to connect logistics service providers and users in the city and localities in the Southern Key Economic Zone, contributing to increasing the rate of outsourced logistics services. — VNS
