KHÁNH HOÀ — The Department of Culture and Sports and the Department of Construction of south-central Khánh Hòa Province, and the provincial Association of Architects, launched an architectural and landscape design competition for the Trường Sa Museum.
Entries should highlight the political significance of Việt Nam's sovereignty over seas and islands, ensure the principle of harmonious, eco-friendly design that is convenient for maintenance, and create an open space to attract local residents and tourists, according to the provincial People's Committee.
Trường Sa Museum will be built on a site of over 2.5 hectares, adjacent to the Gạc Ma Memorial Site in Cam Lâm District, a place to commemorate 64 naval soldiers who bravely sacrificed their lives to defend the Gạc Ma (Johnson South), Cô Lin (Collins) and Len Đao (Landsdowne) reefs in Việt Nam’s Trường Sa (Spratly) on March 14, 1988.
With indoor, outdoor, experimental and interactive spaces, the museum will be a place to preserve, store, display, introduce and promote the sovereignty, history, and culture of Việt Nam's seas and islands.
