HCM CITY — HCM City always looks for opportunities to promote comprehensive co-operation with Cuba in various areas, Phan Văn Mãi, chairman of its People's Committee, has said.
Speaking at a reception he hosted on March 29 for Cuban Minister of Construction Rene Antonio Mesa Villafana, he said the city wanted to strengthen ties with Cuba in mutual areas of strength such as transportation, construction, healthcare, sports medicine, and agriculture.
Besides co-operation at central and local levels, he said the two sides should push for collaboration between their businesses.
Both sides would have a list of enterprises seeking investment, and plan to expand cooperation and investment promotion, he said.
He urged the two sides to facilitate youth exchanges and tourism co-operation to strengthen solidarity and people-to-people contacts, helping deepen the traditional friendship and multi-faceted co-operation between the two countries.
Villafana said generations of leaders and people in Cuba had strived to promote relations between the two nations.
His trip was meant to explore opportunities in the supply of experts and in construction, learn about new production technologies and solicit investment in Cuba.
Cuba would be ready to co-operate with the city in all fields and offer unconditional support to the city to build a good future for both, he added. — VNS
