HẢI PHÒNG — A former director of Hải Phòng City Police Department is being investigated over tax evasion.
Đỗ Hữu Ca is also accused of illegally trading invoices and documents.
The case was reported to authorities in Hải Phòng City and the province of Quảng Ninh.
Lieutenant General Tô Ân Xô, spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, said on February 18, the Investigative Security Agency of Quảng Ninh Province collaborated with professional units under the Ministry of Public Security and departments of public security of provinces and cities to conduct legal proceedings against a number of people.
The police searched Ca’s private house in Thủy Nguyên District and a villa in Hải An Ward on February 18.
A number of documents were seized for further investigation.
Ca, born on November 23, 1958, is from Kênh Giang Commune, Thủy Nguyên District in Hải Phòng City.
He holds bachelor degrees in security, foreign trade, journalism and law. From 2010, he was director of Hải Phòng City Police Department until 2019 when he retired. — VNS
