ĐỒNG NAI – To ensure the project continues to progress, contractors will deploy over 2,000 machines, equipment, engineers and workers on the construction of Long Thành International Airport in Đồng Nai Province during the Tết (Lunar New Year) festival, according to the project’s management board.
From January 20-26, five contractors will deploy over 900 machines, vehicles and about 1,200 engineers and workers on the site. During the Tết holiday, workers will work during office hours and be off on at night, said Kiều Cao Hưng of Việt Nam Construction and Import - Export JSC.
The goal is to stay on schedule to operate the first flight on September 2, 2025.
The Long Thành International Airport project phase one has a total investment capital of about VNĐ$4.6 trillion (US$196.1 million), with a capacity of 25 million passengers per year.
The project started in January 2021.
Covering more than 5,580ha, Long Thành International Airport will spread across six communes in Long Thành District, Đồng Nai Province.
Located 40km to the east of HCM City, the airport is expected to relieve overcrowding at the southern metropolis's Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport, which is currently the largest in Việt Nam. — VNS
