HCM City airport opens temporary taxi stand during Lunar New Year

HCM CITY — A temporary taxi parking area spanning more than 3,500sq.m near Tân Sơn Nhất airport has been put into operation to meet the high demand for parking during the 2023 Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday.

The 2023 Tết holiday will last seven days from January 20-26.

The temporary taxi parking space is set to operate until February 6.

It is located next to the entry of the international terminal of the airport, and also next to the corner of Bạch Đằng-Trường Sơn-Hồng Hà streets.

The number of visitors to Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport this Tết is expected to be even higher than during pre-pandemic levels, with most traveling on domestic flights.

The airport is estimated to accommodate around 950-1,000 flights with around 130,000 passengers coming to the airport every day during the peak period of Tết.

The airport’s Security Centre is in charge of the taxi buffer yard and cooperates with the police units and traffic police forces to maintain security and order in this area and its neighbourhood.

The airport allows all registered taxi companies to operate at the temporary parking lot to use the buffer lot to better meet the needs of their customers.

The number of taxis of each company is divided according to the registered ratio and in accordance with its own allocation and capacity.

In related news, Sài Gòn Railways Transport JSC has informed that until now, around 2,000 train seats from HCM City to Hà Nội are available.

The Sài Gòn Transportation Mechanical Corporation (SAMCO) has directed all of its coach stations and affiliated passenger transport units to work with the city’s transport sector to serve the travel needs of people.

Many of its units will work 24 hours a day to meet the high demand of passengers during Tết.
