Việt Nam reports 1,088 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam on Thursday announced 1,088 new COVID-19 infections nationwide, along with one death.

All the new cases were domestic, and a total of 910 transmissions were detected in the community.

The capital Hà Nội registered the highest daily case count with 238 new infections, followed by Bắc Ninh Province with 116.

Other new cases were found in Yên Bái (58), Vĩnh Phúc (45), Lào Cai (42), Quảng Ninh (40), Phú Thọ (39), Tuyên Quang (37), Nghệ An (36), Quảng Bình (31), Hải Dương (29), HCM City (26), Thái Nguyên (25), Hà Giang (23), Đà Nẵng (22), Sơn La (22), Hải Phòng (21), Nam Định (20), Lâm Đồng (18), Thái Bình (18), Tây Ninh (18), Điện Biên (15), Bắc Kạn (15), Quảng Trị (14), Hà Nam (13), Cao Bằng (11), Hòa Bình (10), Lai Châu (10), Thanh Hóa (9), Ninh Bình (8), Lạng Sơn (8), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (7), Bình Dương (6), Bình Phước (6), Hưng Yên (6), Phú Yên (5), Bắc Giang (5), Cà Mau (3), Khánh Hòa (2), Đồng Nai (2), Quảng Ngãi (2), Thừa Thiên Huế (2), Bình Định (2), Bến Tre (1), Vĩnh Long (1) and Đồng Tháp (1).

Quảng Ninh Province registered an additional 1,120 infections recorded in previous days.

The national caseload since the start of the pandemic now stands at 10,722,634.

One fatality was announced in Quảng Ninh Province.

The total number of COVID-related fatalities in Việt Nam is now 43,080, or 0.4 per cent of total infections.

A further 5,820 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 9,477,660.

More than 221.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country to date, of which nearly 4.6 million have been given to children aged 5 to 11. — VNS
