15,586 new COVID-19 infections reported nationwide, Hà Nội registers most cases for 7th straight day

More than half of new virus incidences, 8,077, were community cases

HÀ NỘI — A total of 15,586 new COVID-19 cases were recorded across the country on Saturday, bringing the national tally to 1,636,455.

With 1,879 transmissions, Hà Nội again registered a record number of infections, and was the locality with the most cases nationwide for the seventh consecutive day.

More than half new virus incidences, 8,077, were community transmissions.

The remaining infections were in Tây Ninh (946), HCM City (885), Vĩnh Long (875), Cà Mau (835), Khánh Hòa (793), Đồng Tháp (789), Cần Thơ (702), Bạc Liêu (612), Trà Vinh (564), Hải Phòng (425), Thừa Thiên Huế (395), Bình Định (387), Tiền Giang (326), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (297), An Giang (289), Kiên Giang (282), Sóc Trăng (279), Đồng Nai (274), Hưng Yên (271), Bắc Ninh (252), Bình Thuận (242), Lâm Đồng (221), Đà Nẵng (211), Bến Tre (203), Phú Yên (192), Quảng Ninh (183), Gia Lai (166), Thanh Hóa (153), Quảng Trị (148), Nam Định (123), Hải Dương (109), Bình Dương (108), Hà Giang (104), Nghệ An (95), Hậu Giang (93), Vĩnh Phúc (91), Quảng Nam (84), Hà Nam (68), Thái Nguyên (64), Bắc Giang (61), Đắk Nông (53), Long An (50), Phú Thọ (48), Quảng Ngãi (47), Sơn La (38), Hòa Bình (37), Thái Bình (37), Ninh Thuận (33), Quảng Bình (32), Bình Phước (27), Cao Bằng (27), Tuyên Quang (17), Lào Cai (14), Yên Bái (14), Lai Châu (7) and Điện Biên (2).

The country’s rolling seven-day average of new COVID-19 infections currently stands at 15,995, an increase of 701 against the figure from one week ago – 15,294 on December 18.

There were 14,423 recoveries recorded, bringing the total to 1,229,684 since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 7,762 cases are in serious condition, including 906 requiring mechanical ventilation and 19 on life support.

The country registered 241 new COVID- related deaths.

Việt Nam’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 31,007, accounting for 1.9 per cent of infections.

The country has received 181.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, with 166.8 million already distributed and 14.7 million pending quality control reviews.

A total of 144.5 million doses of vaccine were administered across the country as of the end of Friday.

132,808,696 doses of vaccines have been given to the adult population, including 69,495,746 first doses, 61,279,724 second doses, and 1,111,749 third doses.

First dose coverage in the adult population has reached 97.9 per cent and second dose coverage 86.3 per cent.

A total of 10,711,768 doses of vaccine have been given to children aged 12-17, with 7,183,756 first doses and 3,528,012 second doses. — VNS
