TRÀ VINH — The People's Committee of Trà Vinh Province is seeking approval from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to build a freshwater reservoir at the Láng Thé River to ensure water sources for the province.

The project would be part of the ministry's plan for the period of 2021-2025. It would cost VNĐ2.8 trillion.

Next year, the province is expected to allocate about VNĐ3 billion for site clearance and other related issues.

The project would ensure water security in Châu Thành District in Đồng Tháp Province and Càng Long District in Trà Vinh Province.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Trà Vinh Province, in the first nine months of 2021 the province dredged 679 canals with a length of over 484,000 metres.

The department has worked with related units to inspect and operate sluices to serve agricultural production in the area.

In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has submitted solutions to the provincial People's Committee on landslide prevention in Càng Long and Trà Cú districts. — VNS
