Nearly 8,200 new COVID-19 infections reported in Việt Nam on Sunday

Việt Nam recorded 8,176 cases of COVID-19 in 52 localities on Sunday, bringing  the national tally to 1,026,522, according to the Ministry of Health.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam recorded 8,176 cases of COVID-19 in 52 localities on Sunday, bringing the national tally to 1,026,522, according to the Ministry of Health.

On the day, the country saw 64 deaths from the disease. The death toll has now hit 23,082, accounting for 2.2 per cent of total infections.

Of the new cases, 13 were imported while 8,163 were locally transmitted. More than 3,700 cases were detected in community, outsides of quarantine or locked down areas.

HCM City continued to record the highest number of infections with 985, followed by An Giang with 695, Đồng Nai 674 and Bình Dương 623.

Hà Nội reported 88 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.

Other new COVID-19 cases were detected in Đồng Tháp (382), Bình Thuận (369), Tây Ninh (332), Sóc Trăng (299), Vĩnh Long (288), Tiền Giang (274), Kiên Giang (274), Bạc Liêu (273), Cà Mau (243), Đắk Lắk (228), Khánh Hòa (209), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (204), Bình Phước (184), Cần Thơ (146), Thái Bình (134), Trà Vinh (134), Bến Tre (98), Long An (95), Thừa Thiên Huế (93), Hậu Giang (69), Hà Giang (56), Đắk Nông (52), Thanh Hóa (47), Phú Thọ (46), Nghệ An (44), Quảng Nam (43), Bắc Giang (41), Quảng Ngãi (39), Ninh Thuận (37), Quảng Ninh (37), Nam Định (36), Gia Lai (36), Quảng Trị (35), Bắc Ninh (32), Bình Định (30), Quảng Bình (29), Tuyên Quang (27), Hà Nam (21), Điện Biên (20), Đà Nẵng (18), Phú Yên (16), Lạng Sơn (9), Ninh Bình (9), Thái Nguyên (4), Cao Bằng (3), Yên Bái (2) and Hà Tĩnh (1).

Compared with the previous day, the number of new infections fell by 288 cases.

New COVID-19 related deaths were reported in HCM City (22), Kiên Giang (8 ), An Giang (6), Bình Dương (5), Tiền Giang (5), Tây Ninh (4), Bình Thuận (2), Cần Thơ (2), Bạc Liêu (2), Ninh Thuận (2), Hà Nội (1), Hà Giang (1), Đắk Lắk (1), Đồng Nai (1), Đồng Tháp (1) and Vĩnh Long (1).

According to the Health Ministry’s report, 3,947 patients nationwide are in serious condition, with 13 on life support (ECMO).

A further 5,257 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 863,311.

Nearly 99 million doses of vaccines have been administered in Việt Nam to date, with more than 34.6 million people now fully inoculated. —  VNS
