COVID-19 fatalities tops 22,000, more than 80 million vaccine doses administered

The Ministry of Health confirmed 5,227 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the country's tally to 915,603.

HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health confirmed 5,227 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the country's tally to 915,603.

A further 64 deaths were also announced. The total number of fatalities now stands at 22,030, about 2.4 per cent of the total confirmed infections.

HCM City recorded the highest daily cases with 1,042, followed by Đồng Nai, 679, and Bình Dương with 665.

In the capital city of Hà Nội, 56 new infections were detected.

The other cases were recorded in Bạc Liêu (404), Kiên Giang (298), An Giang (231), Tiền Giang (223), Tây Ninh (203), Sóc Trăng (190), Đắk Lắk (146), Long An (106), Cần Thơ (95), Trà Vinh (82), Bình Thuận (79), Ninh Thuận (69), Gia Lai (69), Đồng Tháp (67), Bến Tre (46), Hậu Giang (42), Cà Mau (40), Vĩnh Long (35), Phú Thọ (34), Thừa Thiên Huế (27), Khánh Hòa (26), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (25), Nam Định (24), Nghệ An (23), Bình Phước (23), Bắc Ninh (22), Hà Nam (20), Quảng Nam (19), Bình Định (16), Thanh Hóa (15), Quảng Trị (10), Phú Yên (10), Quảng Ngãi (8), Lâm Đồng (7), Đắk Nông (7), Kon Tum (7), Vĩnh Phúc (6), Bắc Giang (5), Quảng Bình (5), Hà Tĩnh (4), Thái Bình (3), Hải Phòng (3), Lai Châu (3), Hưng Yên (2), Đà Nẵng (2) and Quảng Ninh (1).

Among the new infections, 5,224 cases were in the community.

The 64 COVID-related deaths were in HCM City (30), Bình Dương (13), Bạc Liêu (5), Long An (4), Sóc Trăng (4), An Giang (3),Cần Thơ (1), Kiên Giang (1), Tây Ninh (1), Tiền Giang (1) and Ninh Thuận (1).

Việt Nam's seven-day average of daily new cases stands at 4,376.

The Health Ministry also announced a further 2,204 patients have recovered, bringing the total to 818,336.

Of the current patients in hospital, 2,831 are in a serious condition, 290 require invasive ventilation and 15 are on life support (ECMO).

A total of 80,528,570 doses of vaccine have been administered, with 23,911,790 people now fully vaccinated. — VNS
