During the meeting, the leader spotlighted the strong and comprehensive development of the Việt Nam – Japan extensive strategic partnership with high political trust

To this end, ASEAN calls for restraint from all parties to not complicate the situation in the South China Sea and urges efforts to handle disputes in line with international laws and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Seas (UNCLOS) 1982.

United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has confirmed he will visit Việt Nam before the end of this year during a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hà Kim Ngọc in New York on August 3 (US time). 

Permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) Central Committee Võ Văn Thưởng had a number of meetings with the Republic of Korea (RoK) officials.
