HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc emphasised the importance of digitalisation in broadcasting when meeting with leading officials from The Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

Phúc said on Wednesday that although Việt Nam has made strides in communications in recent years, there remains a big gap with many other countries in this field.

Digital technology, the internet, social networks and new means of communication are challenging the media and VOV, he stated.

The Government leader asked the radio to improve the quality and expand the coverage of its channels.

He agreed with the agency’s proposal of expanding its VOV traffic channel to the central coastal, central and southern regions.

VOV General Director Nguyễn Thế Kỷ told PM Phúc that from now to 2025 and the following years, the agency will strive to improve its content, intensify the application of information technology and increase governance capacity. — VNS
