RABAT — Việt Nam and Morocco signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on environmental, trade and industrial co-operation in Rabat on Thursday during an official visit to the African nation by Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Moroccan Ministry of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development inked a document on co-operation in environment and sustainable development.
Moroccan Minister Aziz Rabbah said that as a developing nation, his country pays special attention to sustainable development and building a green economy. With the signing of this document, Việt Nam and Morocco will become companions in the fight against climate change and the promotion of sustainable development.
He also stressed the importance of stronger co-operation in this area between the two countries, saying both sides need to realise the deals signed this time for the sake of sustainable development and future generations.
Vietnamese Minister Trần Hồng Hà said that like Morocco, Việt Nam is a beautiful country with many natural wonders and a stable and secure political environment. However, the strong development process is posing problems to sustainable development. The country defines developing a green and sustainable economy as an important task which needs the two countries’ co-operation.
Also on Thursday, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Moroccan Ministry of Industry, Investment, Trade and the Digital Economy signed a MoU on establishing a sub-committee for co-operation in commerce and industry (SCCCI). The SCCCI aims to promote win-win commercial and industrial partnerships.
The two ministries also inked another MoU, in which both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in trade and industry so as to bolster bilateral trade and the exchange of industrial knowledge and technology. They will increase the sharing of information about business opportunities, especially for commodities with high trading potential like agricultural and aquatic products, textiles and garments, footwear, mobile phones and components, computers, electronic products and components, phosphate and coal.
They will also share their experiences with trade and industry development mechanisms and policies, promote investment in and the establishment of joint ventures and boost worker training to develop industrial and technical sectors.
The two sides agreed to set up a Việt Nam-Morocco working group for commercial and industrial co-operation to resolve joint issues. They will also work out new strategies for enhancing commercial and industrial relations. — VNS
