WASHINGTON DC – Deputy Prime Minister Vương Đình Huệ discussed Việt Nam’s socio-economic development and policies as part of the Việt Nam Executive Leadership Programme (VELP) in Massachusetts, the US, from Thursday to yesterday.
Hue and other Vietnamese officials also talked about Viet Nam’s economic achievements over the years and challenges facing the national economy.
Việt Nam’s aims to improve growth quality and promote long-term sustainable development, along with the country’s response to climate change in the Mekong Delta, were also discussed.
Formed ten years ago, the VELP is the initiative of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry and Havard University. It serves as a forum for leaders of the Government, ministries and localities to exchange views on policies.
This year’s event brought together many scholars and experts from Harvard Kennedy School, Fulbright Vietnam and other leading US universities and research institutes.
The participants looked into the world’s economy, cyber space and national security, intellectual property and technical transfer, urban strategy, growth quality, rural environment and energy strategy of Viet Nam.
Also on Thursday, Huệ and his entourage visited the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)’s innovation centre. — VNS
