HÀ NỘI — The Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Secretariat has asked the Government to soon release the inspection results of a VNĐ8.89 trillion (US$395 million) acquisition by communications giant Mobifone.
The request was made during a Secretariat meeting chaired by Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng on the inspection report of the Government Inspectorate on the deal, PCC announced on Thursday evening.
State-owned Mobifone allegedly paid VNĐ8.89 trillion for 95 per cent of Audio Visual Global (AVG)’s shares, some 2.5 times higher than AVG’s charter capital recorded by the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
According to the Secretariat, the deal was “very serious, complicated and sensitive, and the public paid special attention to it”.
The Secretariat asked the Government and the Inspectorate to take responsibility for the inspection results and urgently handle the case in an objective and accurate manner in line with the party’s regulations and the law. — VNS
