The visit takes place at a time when Việt Nam and Bangladesh are celebrating the 45th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties. It affirms Vietnam’s consistent external policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of foreign relations, including the long-standing friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Bangladesh.

The visit is expected to blow a breath of fresh air into bilateral economic and trade relations. With many potential for cooperation in the fields of agriculture, pharmaceuticals and electronics, the two sides are striving to achieve the target of more than US$1 billion in two-way trade.

Earlier the same day, President Trần Đại Quang wrapped up his three-day State visit to India. He sent a message of thanks to Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, appreciating the warm welcome and sentiments the President, senior leaders and people of India have extended to him and the Vietnamese delegation. — VNS
