HÀ TĨNH — National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân on Wednesday presented gifts to poor householders, the elderly, and medical policy beneficiaries in the central province of Hà Tĩnh ahead of Tết (Lunar New Year), the country’s biggest holiday.
Expressing sympathy for those with difficulties, the top legislator told them about the provincial administration’s proposal to stop the operation of the environmentally questionable Thạch Khê iron mine.
Affirming locality’s marine-tourism potential, she said she hoped residents would believe in the Party and State’s policies and join the local authority in stepping up production and improve their living conditions.
Nguyễn Trung Chiến, Secretary of the Thạch Hải Commune Party Committee, suggested the State assist the locality by enlarging an inter-hamlet road, developing a clean-water supply system and an irrigation network for agriculture.
Acknowledging Chiến’s proposal, Ngân asked the provincial administration to ensure social security in Thạch Hải Commune.
The NA Chairwoman and officials laid a wreath at a monument dedicated to young volunteers, including the graves of 10 young females at the National Đồng Lộc T-junction Relic Site. — VNS
