HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam and Bangladesh will continue to boost legislative co-operation through exchanges of high-ranking delegations, share legal experience and implement co-operation agreements between the two sides.
The agreement was reached by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân and Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury during their talks in Hà Nội on Thursday.
They also agreed to consider the establishment of the two Parliamentary Friendship Groups, which will serve as a bridge to boost exchanges between parliamentarians of the two countries as well as will work to promote the economic co-operation and exchanges between the two people.
They entrust relevant agencies to accelerate the building and preparation to soon sign a co-operation mechanism between the two countries to increase co-operation efficiency between the two legislative bodies.
At the talks, they expressed delight at the continuous development of the traditional friendship and multi-faceted co-operation between Việt Nam and Bangladesh.
NA Chairwoman Ngân spoke highly of the visit to Việt Nam by the Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament, the first visit by a top Bangladeshi legislator since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973.
She said the visit will help promote the traditional friendship and multi-faceted co-operation between the two nations and two peoples, and open up a new development stage between the two legislative bodies.
Ngân affirmed that Việt Nam has always attached importance and wished to enhance the traditional friendship and co-operation with Bangladesh.
Việt Nam’s NA will create favourable legal conditions to help foster the co-operation between the two countries in all fields, she said.
Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Shirin expressed her delight at leading the high-ranking Bangladesh Parliament delegation visit to Việt Nam.
She invited NA Chairwoman Ngân to visit Bangladesh, and the latter accepted the invitation with pleasure. — VNS
