HCM CITY — National Assembly (NA) Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn on Wednesday offered flowers and incense at the Ngã Ba Giồng National Historical Site in Bà Điểm Commune, HCM City.

The delegation paid tribute to President Hồ Chí Minh, former leaders of the Party and State, and residents and soldiers who sacrificed their lives for national liberation and reunification.

Ngã Ba Giồng is associated with heroic chapters of Việt Nam’s revolutionary history. The site currently displays documents, artefacts and images relating to the 1940 Southern Uprising. It was also one of three execution grounds established by French colonialists in Hóc Môn in 1941. At this site, the colonial administration executed many revolutionaries, including General Secretary of the Indochinese Communist Party Nguyễn Văn Cư, and Phan Đăng Lưu, a member of the Standing Board of the Indochinese Communist Party Central Committee, along with numerous patriots who took part in the uprising.

On the same morning, Chairman Mẫn visited and presented gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Huyỳnh Thị Se in Ba Điểm Commune.

Expressing profound gratitude for the immense sacrifices and losses endured by her family during the struggle for national liberation and reunification, the top legislator affirmed that the Party, State and people always value and remember the contributions of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, families of fallen soldiers and those who rendered service to the revolution.

He also underscored the responsibility of authorities at all levels to better care for policy beneficiaries, both materially and spiritually. — VNA/VNS
