HÀ NỘI — King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein arrived in Hà Nội on Wednesday afternoon, beginning a two-day official visit to Việt Nam at the invitation of State President Lương Cường.

The Jordanian delegation was welcomed at Nội Bài International Airport by Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Presidential Office Lê Khánh Hải, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyễn Minh Hằng, and Vietnamese ambassador to the UAE and Jordan Nguyễn Thanh Diệp.

According to Ambassador Nguyễn Thanh Diệp, King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein’s visit is of great significance, which is taking place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations (August 9, 1980-2025).

This is the first visit to Việt Nam by the head of the Kingdom of Jordan to Việt Nam, and the first exchange of delegations at the Head of State/Government level, between the two countries since the establishment of their diplomatic relations. This is also the first visit to Việt Nam by a head of state of a Middle Eastern nation in nine years.

The trip marks a historic milestone in the relationship between the two countries, opening a new phase of cooperation, creating a premise for promoting cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Việt Nam–Jordan ties have steadily developed and strengthened.

The two countries have maintained several high-level visits and exchanges, including Deputy Foreign Minister Phạm Quang Hiệu’s trip to Jordan in December 2022; Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính’s meeting with Crown Prince of Jordan Al Hussein bin Abdullah II during the 8th annual edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII8) Conference in Saudi Arabia in October 2024, among others.

Recently, in a meeting with the Jordanian King on the sidelines of the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) in Nice, France, in June, PM Chính affirmed that Việt Nam attaches importance to multifaceted cooperation with Jordan.

Meanwhile, Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein expressed admiration for Việt Nam’s socio-economic achievements and strong progress.
