TIANJIN — Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính held a meeting with his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong on the sidelines of the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Tianjin, China, on Wednesday.
PM Chính affirmed that Vietnamese ministries and agencies are actively implementing the outcomes of the recent high-level visits between the two countries. A key focus is the swift development of an action plan for implementing the Việt Nam–Singapore comprehensive strategic partnership in the 2025–2030 period.
To generate new momentum for Việt Nam's economic growth, the Vietnamese leader called on Singapore to deepen cooperation in promising sectors such as digital economy, green economy, and international financial centre development. He also suggested opening more Việt Nam–Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) in Việt Nam to include smart urban areas and digital commerce, along with enhancing support for the training of high-quality human resources for Việt Nam in both short and long terms.
PM Wong agreed with PM Chính's proposals on measures to strengthen bilateral relations in the future, especially the prompt signing of an action plan for implementing the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership, and the launch of upgraded VSIPs to include hi-tech parks, urban areas, and commercial zones.
He also expressed his hope to actively cooperate with Việt Nam in rice import to ensure food security for his country.
The two PMs agreed to further reinforce their countries' cooperation in various fields, including expanding Party-to-Party collaboration, and promoting bilateral economic, trade, and investment ties, especially in high technology, renewable energy, wind power export, carbon credit exchange, smart infrastructure, sustainable urban development, and cybersecurity.
They also reached a consensus on maintaining and enhancing the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms between the two countries while believing that with strong determination and efforts by both sides, the bilateral relationship will be elevated to a new height.
The two sides also exchanged views on several regional and international issues of mutual concern. In the context of increasingly complex and unpredictable developments, they agreed to continue close coordination in maintaining ASEAN unity and building a strong ASEAN Community for peace, stability, and the common interests of the region.
On this occasion, PM Chính conveyed State President Lương Cường’s invitation to the President of Singapore to attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, to be held in Hà Nội in October 2025. — VNA/VNS
