ASEAN foreign ministers sent sympathies over typhoon Yagi's losses

HÀ NỘI — ASEAN foreign ministers have on Thursday issued a statement expressing sympathies over the great human losses and property damages caused by Typhoon Yagi in the Philippines, Việt Nam, Laos, Thailand and China, among others.

"ASEAN Member States express their heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the families and communities affected by the Typhoon," it said.

ASEAN affirms its solidarity with the Governments and peoples of the affected countries and is confident that the affected countries will overcome and recover swiftly from the impact of this natural disaster. ASEAN stands ready to extend its cooperation and support to the relief efforts, including through the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre).

For Việt Nam, ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) will provide 2,002 family kits, 1,008 house repair kits, 1,015 kitchen kits, and 3,031 personal hygiene kits. The aid is expected to be delivered to Nội Bài International Airport in Hà Nội on September 13-14. — VNS
