VIENTIANE — The Nguyễn Du Lao-Vietnamese bilingual language school in Vientiane held a ceremony on Wednesday to start the 2024-25 school year.
The event was attended by representatives from the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports, the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, and the Vietnamese community in Vientiane, alongside students, parents and teachers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Rector of the school Sivanheuang Phengkhammay highlighted the school’s commitment to quality education, emphasising that teachers and staff members strive to be role models for students to follow and make more contributions to the development of the school and its educational mission.
Counsellor and standing member of the Community Affairs Committee of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos Nguyễn Thị Thuận, praised the school’s long-standing tradition and said it is a typical example in teaching Vietnamese for the Vietnamese community in Laos.
She also noted the school’s role in fostering talented students who have contributed to the socio-economic development of Laos.
Nguyễn Du School has earned a reputation as a leading educational institution in Vientiane, helping preserve the Vietnamese language and culture within the expatriate community.
Over the years, it has generated many talents who are serving both Laos and Việt Nam.
At the ceremony, scholarships and gifts were awarded to outstanding students as well as those facing hardships, to encourage them to continue excelling in their study.
These efforts aim to contribute to the strong and enduring friendship between Việt Nam and Laos.— VNS
