HÀ NỘI — Chilean Minister of Foregin Affairs Alberto Van Klaveren will visit Việt Nam on August 25-27 at the invitation of Vietnamese counterpart Bùi Thanh Sơn, according to the announcement from the foreign mnistry.
Việt Nam and Chile officially established diplomatic relations on March 25, 1971, marking a new chapter in their bilateral relationship.
Despite the geographical distance, Việt Nam and Chile have always remained close and connected. Việt Nam deeply values and remembers the support and solidarity extended by the Chilean people during Việt Nam's war as well as in national defence and national building efforts.
The strong traditional friendship has been a solid foundation for the robust development of the relationship characterised by solidarity, friendship, and reliable cooperation between Việt Nam and Chile for over half a century, especially since the two countries established a comprehensive partnership in 2007.
Currently, trade exchanges between the two countries continue to grow positively. Chile is one of Việt Nam's four largest trade partners in the Latin American region (following Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina).
Agreements and cooperation in various fields are being effectively implemented, deepening and diversifying the bilateral relationship.
The two sides continue to closely coordinate and support each other in international organisations and multilateral forums, reflecting the solidarity and close friendship between the people of both countries. — VNS
