JAKARTA – A delegation of the Vietnam Naval Academy led by its Deputy Director Colonel Nguyễn Đình Giang on July 18 paid a courtesy call on Governor of the Indonesian Naval Academy Rear Admiral Supardi as part of its visit to the country to exchange with the Indonesian Navy.
Welcoming the Vietnamese delegation of the Việt Nam Naval Academy on sailing vessel 286-Lê Quý Đôn to visit the Surabaya Naval Port and the Indonesian Naval Academy, Supardi emphasised that this activity affirmed the good interactions between the naval forces of the two countries in general and between young naval cadets in particular, thus helping to enhance mutual understanding, trust and defence and military relations between Indonesia and Việt Nam.
On behalf of the delegation, Giang thanked the Governor and the academy's leaders for their warm welcome.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged information on teaching and training activities of the two academies. After the meeting, Supardi invited the delegation to visit a centre for training management and supervision at the Indonesian Naval Academy.
Cadets from the two naval academies played a friendly volleyball match, which helped strengthen solidarity and understanding between the young naval soldiers of the two countries.
Earlier, in the afternoon of July 17, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Surabaya city's authority in East Java province and the commander of the 2nd Fleet Command, Naval Base No.5 in Surabaya. Colonel Nguyễn Tuấn Đức, Việtnam's Defense Attaché in Indonesia, participated in the delegation's activities. VNS
