Artist presents Central Highlands’ culture

Artist Trương Công Tùng continues to present his deep-rooted fascination with the history and culture of the Gia Rai -- the largest ethnic group in Việt Nam’s Central Highlands where he comes from, through the exhibition Across the Forest which will open at 6pm today at Nhà Sàn Collective.

Japanese artists exhibit contemporary pottery

A collection of porcelain products by 35 Japanese artists will be on display this Friday (october 14) at the Japanese Pottery: The Rising Generation from Traditional Japanese Kilns exhibit at the HCM City Exhibition House this week. 

 

Global volunteers build 20 habitats for poor VN families

More than two hundreds international volunteers who flew to Việt Nam from different countries in the world including New Zealand, Australia, Japan, the US, Singapore and Hong Kong, spent a week building houses for poor community in two coummunes Hương Nha and Xuân Quang of the Phú Thọ province’s Tam Nông district.

Việt Nam Idol on her new patriotism

Fillipina Janicee Aranjuez Buco is the first foreigner to win any season of Việt Nam Idol 2016. The seventh season of the Vietnamese-adapted British television singing contest concluded on October 1 at BHD Studio in District 9, HCM City.

Buco was born and raised in the Philippines. She moved to Việt Nam in 2009 by herself at the age of 21 in search of a way out of poverty and to launch a career in singing. At the contest, she beat rival and finalist Việt Thắng, who is also very popular for his trained voice, via an audience SMS (short message services) vote. The two singers battled from May through September, but in the end Janicee was the victor with 54.25 per cent of the vote.
