NGHỆ AN — Tourism potentials the of central province of Nghệ An will be highlighted at the Sunflower Festival to be held between December 27 and 29 in Nghĩa Đàn Province.

The event aims to promote the district as an attractive destination with new tourism products and experiences, linking neigbouring destinations in the west of Nghệ An and along the trans-Việt Nam route through the Hồ Chí Minh Highway.

According to local authorities, this year’s  Festival will be organised in keeping with environmental protection and suitability to traditional culture.

In the total site of 100ha sunflower field, local delicacies will be showcased together with agricultural products of west Nghệ An districts. A photo tour exploring the sunflower field and other destinations in the west of Nghệ An will be offered.

The annual festival, which has being held since 2016, adds more activities to lure tourists to the province. This year event is expected to receive 6.5 million tourists, 4.7 million of whom are hoped to stay overnight, a 9.5 per cent increase over the last year. The total income from tourism is expected to reach VNĐ8,800 billion (US$381 million), VNĐ4,600 billion ($199 million) of which will be got from tourism services, a 22 per cent against the last year. — VNS
