HÀ NỘI — Guitar master Rafael Serrallet will perform in a solo concert at the Việt Nam National Academy of Music on October 10.

The concert will highlight the magic of the Spanish guitar with a repertoire featuring a mysterious and magical world of history and Spanish deeds from the first circumnavigation of the world in the 16th century to the music of the 18th to 20th centuries.

The first part entitled Victoria – A Musical Expedition Around The World will be a musical fantasy based on works from the expedition member’s country of origin including German The Almain; French Gallardes and Bransles, Italian Saltarello and Pavana, and Spanish Canaries.

The repertoire also includes Portuguese melodies and the favourite song of King Carlos I of Spain and Karl V of Germany, Mille Regretz.

Two hymns about the Virgin Mary will be played at the beginning and end of this scene.

The concert will continue with Spanish Capriccio – From Ferandiere to Rodrigo.

This will be the second time Serrallet has performed in Việt Nam. Last year, he became the first classical musician to perform on all seven continents including Antarctica.

Serrallet is a soloist performing with different orchestras around the world including Lincoln Centre, Carnegie Hall, The National Theatre of Croatia and Cairo Opera House.

He has also received many prizes including the Regional Lazio medal in Italy and the Xrivella Prize in Valencia.
